Interview with Emidio Hoareb

Interview with Emidio Hoareb

ree

This month I had the fantastic opportunity to interview an outstanding photographer and content creator; Emidio Hoareb. We’ll be going through things like his creative process, his inspirations and advice for anyone with an interest in photography and launching their own venture.

• Many people don’t fully understand how complex photography is. Is there anything you’d like potential customers and the like to know about your work?

Yeah, you’re right… It is actually more complex than folks think. People usually think that it’s just a click of a button and then it’s over. But it’s more than that. I would want my potential customers and everyone actually to know that it takes a lot. For instance, planning, brainstorming, and trying to stand out at the same time. And then after the photoshoots there’s also editing and cleaning up.

• What was your inspiration to follow photography as a career?

Well… I have always loved art, whether it’s music, paintings, contemporary dancing, acting, and of course photography. But photography has been one that always stood out because I was actually good at it. Or so people say (haha). So yeah… I just stuck to it.

• What’s the best part of your job?

THE FREEDOM… Being able to make independent creative decisions is definitely a win.

• What’s the biggest stress factor or negative for work?

Dealing with people who don’t understand my creative vision doesn’t allow me to create great content for them.

• Do you have a personal favorite shoot?

Weddings, Automotive, and just general commercial shoots.

• What’s the photography industry like here in Namibia?

It’s interesting… in a sense of it’s definitely a bit challenging, because people in Namibia aren’t really familiar with photography like in other countries.

• Do you have a message for any aspiring or upcoming photographers?

Plain and simple… Don’t stop creating! Stay practicing!

Are there any photographers you try to emulate with your work?

– Karl Shakur

– Jack Harding

– Dan Carter

– Aaron Brimhall

Namibian Beauty Is Not One Look

Posted on January 19, 2026May 13, 2026

To speak of the beauty of Namibian women without speaking of their labor, leadership, humor, pain, and resilience would be incomplete. Beauty here is not passive. It farms, it protests, it nurtures, it remembers. It wears tradition not as costume, but as continuity. Namibian women are not beautiful despite their…
