Out of the closets and into the streets.

It was just a thought, which formed a sentence, that I for so long kept playing out in my head, thought made way to my mouth as I just spat out the words “ I think I like girls” to my mom. She gave birth to me, cradled me into her arms as she sang lullabies to me every night, with a tenderness I could so vividly still remember, so what could one simple truth change? It changed everything, my whole entire life turned upside down, no friends, no mom, but there I was found myself taking a strong grip on a bottle of pills.
These are all the stories we hear every single day, stories that make me cringe and somewhat upset, stories about the very few who decided to embrace what they felt towards whomever in a society full of hate, the very few who were left shunned and loathed by society, just by a simple truth that didn’t make them any less human. Sad, took so many suicides and suicide attempts to remove the blind fold that has screwed up most of people’s lives.
Protests have been ongoing, against the LGBTQI+ and surprisingly were launched by our very own church leaders, who more than many times preach to us to not judge anyone, even worse it’s proclaimed as one of the commandments. Bringing into question, what are they teaching us? To not only judge certain people and judge others because of their sexual preferences? And how does that make them any different of sinners?
About time we took off our rose tinted glasses, and saw the world for what it truly is. About time we normalized having this talks with our children, and heal this pending issue in our generation before we pass it on to the next. This is generational healing, this a new era, this is a new beginning, bringing forth a better tomorrow. At the end of the day, when work no longer calls you, we all want to go back home to someone who loves us, ignite this spark between us, it doesn’t matter what gender they are, but what is in the heart.
I take a look at this picture and all I see is two people caught up in the moment, having the feelings they are supposed to feel, expressing their love in a way only known best to them and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. It’s the happiness we all want, it is someone who understands us more than oneself, and not so many get to find that person and if you do, hold on tight, tell them how much they mean to you, and to hell with the haters. It’s a short life!
